I use Rits a lot in AB. A lot of times we'll go as Spirit Strength Rits (useually 2 /P, 1 /A, 1 /W). The DPS is nice, the utility due to varying secondaries is nice. Half of us use Vital Weapon, the other half uses REsilient Weapon. All of us take Wielder's Remedy. All of us use Ghostforge Insignias. We pretty much trample most things.

I don't see many Rits or Paragons.
However when my guild forms a team we have a Paragon and a Rit in our build so they do have their uses.
Although Spirit spam is out, just cannot be done fast enough for the pace of the game. I'm sure you could camp a shrine somewheres with a Rit or two and spam away, but campings not so much the point of the tactics needed to win.

I love playing my rit in ab. With a few simple spirits, like preservation, life and recuperation, you can hold a shrine all by yourself. Throw in some direct heals like spirit light and mend BaS, and a defencive skill like Weapon of warding, you become a portable shrine holder. I play that build alot in ab. Another fun build is the mob killer. Splinter barrage at 16 channeling into one of thoes massive ab mobs can be devastating, potentialy to one whole side.

lol the times you saw rit teams running around might have been me, my allince owns cavalon [any] alliance. ive organized rit teams a lot, they are unstoppable, they are good at everywhere, but the best is ancestral. we cap 1 shrine then run into kurz base, they can't get us out because when someone tries to drop a canister by the gate we spike them to death before they drop it. and once our allies take the outside res shrine, they res in base. when they try to run out of base to tele portals, we spike them down before they get out, so we lock them in. its very funny to watch them try to scramble out of the base.
but we don't use the build francis said, we use gaze, burn, and rift to spike, if your smart you can figure out the build.
anyway yes rits own, if done right. i don't think solo rits are that good. rits are great together where they can all lay down 2 spirits, which adds up to 8 and this creates some more offense/defense via bloodsong/shadowsong. if done right they can be great.
and for paras they can be good, my friend runs a cap team using and un named enchantment and godspeed. its very good

Another problem with Rits in AB is that either a SP mesmer or nuker on the other side can do them some serious damage, SP for obvious reasons and nukers because the spirits wont move out of the AoE. So the spirits die very quickly and any other skills that rely on spirits for a boost are weakened. In RA it is uncommon to find nukers (not unheard of unfortunately) and SP mesmers are not that common so a ritualist is fairly safe. Also because AB is 12 v 12 the chances of a team having either a nuker or a SP mesmer is rather large.
